Henniges Automotive North America, Inc., in Auburn Hills, Michigan, seeks a Director of Engineering & Program Management. 50% travel, domestic and international. Duties: Recruit and assign managers and team members to support regional programs and oversee activities to ensure programs are on-time; review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and provide direction to remedy issues; provide leadership and direction for activities relating to new customer quotes, product innovation, VA/VE, and root cause problem solving of warranty, testing, and system functional issues; ensure all capital appropriation requests and tooling kickoffs are completed, and build readiness reviews in advance of customer milestones; evaluate and oversee approval of design changes, specification changes, and drawing releases; coordinate program management teams with quality and plant operations to conduct program reviews and resolve open issues; lead projects and/or project teams, assign work, review progress and evaluate results; and oversee and manage warranty costs and issues for program and maintain customer and internal targets. Work from home allowed two days per week.
Minimum education required: Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or an equivalent foreign degree.
Minimum experience required: 10 years of experience in a Management or Program Engineering role at an automotive manufacturing supplier plant in production, quality or manufacturing engineering departments, or a combination thereof. Must have 5 years of work experience with each of the following: developing automotive products from initial concept through validation and launch; establishing and controlling department budgets, defining new program capital and tooling budget submissions to corporate finance and controlled spending, and collections in support of company cashflow targets; managing cross functional program teams through all development phases per requirements of automotive customers; and managing organizations with more than twenty employees, and cultivating technical and managerial leaders by establishing development plans and through coaching.
